  Vignerons d'Europe 2009
Vintners, Vineyards & Wines

Venue
The meeting will be held in the Montecatini convention centre (www.montecatini.it).
Montecatini Terme is one of the most renowned health resort in Italy, conveniently situated halfway between Florence and Pisa. In this quiet and relaxed environment we will be able to calmly work on tthe issues of Vignerons d’Europe. The closing plenary assembly as well as the Vignerons Market on Monday December 7 will be held in Florence, capital of the Region and city of great historical, cultural and symbolic importance. This way the ideas and contents of Vignerons d’Europe shall receive further visibility and emphasis.
After Vignerons d’Europe participants will have the possibility to extend their layover in Tuscany and take part in a series of events and initiatives organized by the local wine producers and Slow Food Convivia.

Languages
The entire meeting will be simultaneously translated in Italian, French, German and Spanish.

Participants
The meeting is open to all European vignerons: vintners who cultivate and vinify their own grapes, commercialize their own wines and who actively take part in at least one of the singular steps of production, vintners who are motivated to work towards a more sustainable wine production.
Furthermore the meeting is open to all other Wine producers, bottlers and merchants, who can participate as listeners to the debates.

The Seminars
Each seminar will be led by a moderator and begin with 3 to 4 short speeches that shall introduce the subject of debate. Afterwards the discussion is open to all vintners present. Speeches shall be short and precise in order to give many participants the chance to share their opinions and experiences. The seminars will be entirely recorded in writing.
At the end of each seminar a commission consisting of moderators, speakers, and some participating vintners will assemble and summarize the key concepts of the respective seminar.
The results of the four seminars will form the base for the final document of vignerons d’europe, the “European manifesto for sustainable viticulture”. This document will be elaborated by a commission on Sunday evening, then presented and approved by during the closing plenary assembly on Monday morning.

Conviviality and network
Despite the seriousness of the central issues we put great importance into the convivial aspect of the manifestation. In a series of shared, convivial moments there will be the possibility to get to know the fellow vintners, exchange experiences, socialise and establish valuable contacts with like-minded people.
This shall enable the becoming of a dynamic network of European vignerons, based on community and solidarity, perfectly fitting into the Slow Food- and Terra Madre philosophy.

Conditions and options for participation:

• Cost of participation: 50,-€
Includes:

Vignerons d’Europe market
The meeting will end on Monday December 7 with the great market of the vignerons, held in a location right in the city centre of Florence.
This unique market will offer the chance to get in contact with a large crowd of visitors, present and sell the own wines and make important contacts.
Such a unique occasion, in such an important environment and directly in the holidays will certainly attract a large number of visitors and wine enthusiasts.
(More information on the organisation end the shipment of the wines will follow)

“Terra Ospitale” – A Hospitable Land
Following the three days of vignerons d’Europe there will be the possibility for participants to extend their layover in Tuscany: Vintners and Slow Food Convivia open their door and invite the Vignerons d’Europe to discover their unique region with its numerous cultural, historical, artistic and gastronomic treasures.
Together the vintners and the people of the “Terra Madre in Tuscany” network will organize a pleasant hospitality and involve European winegrowers and their wines in a series of activities: meetings, discussions, tastings, excursions and convivial encounters. This encounter shall reinforce the network, strengthen the relationships and celebrate the ideas of Vignerons d’Europe, thus creating a dynamic network of winegrowers from across Europe.
On December 10 will be celebrated the international Terra Madre Day.
